Will it bear repeating?
Paddington was widely written off before its release as yet another cynical cash-in on a nostalgic property. But many were left with egg on their faces when it received widespread praise and became a surprise box office hit.
Refreshingly titled simply Paddington 2 in this hyphenated age, the sequel hits UK/ROI cinemas November 10th. Ben Whishaw returns as the voice of the Peruvian bear, as do Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins, joined this time by Hugh Grant and Brendan Gleeson.
The official synopsis reads:
The much-anticipated sequel to the worldwide hit family film finds Paddington happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, where he has become a popular member of the community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s hundredth birthday, Paddington spots a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber’s antique shop, and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it. But when the book is stolen, it’s up to Paddington and the Browns to unmask the thief…
