A host of previously unreleased images from the 1958 war movie have been unearthed.
Christopher Nolan's take on the WWII evacuation of Dunkirk hits cinemas next week, but of course the story was previously tackled back in 1958 by director Leslie Norman.
Norman's film, which starred Richard Attenborough (whose grandson Will appears in Nolan's movie) and John Mills, will receive a DVD and blu-ray restoration release on September 25th from Studiocanal.
On the evenings of Wednesday 20th September and Thursday 21st September, the movie will be screened on the beaches of Camber Sands, where it was shot. For more info on the screenings and to book tickets, visit scnl.co/DunkirkPremiere
The official synopsis reads:
DUNKIRK follows the dramatic events leading up to Operation Dynamo, where upon the British Army attempted to rescue fellow soldiers and allied troops from Nazi occupied France. Seen from the dual perspectives of a jaded journalist in search of propaganda and a weary soldier desperately trying to give his troop some hope, Dunkirk never shies away from the brutality of war and the bravery of its soldiers.
Studiocanal have released a selection of never seen before images from the film's set, which you can check out below...
