Video goes behind the scenes of Mendes' upcoming WWI thriller.
Director Sam Mendes' World War One set 1917 follows two young British soldiers (George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman) as they undertake a seemingly suicidal mission across enemy lines to deliver a vital message.
Mendes' film is constructed to give the appearance of one continuous shot. In the featurette below, Mendes and cinematographer Roger Deakins provide an insight into how they pulled off this cinematic achievement.
1917 is in UK/ROI cinemas January 10th.
The official synopsis reads:
At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic's George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones' Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers-Blake's own brother among them.
