Big news for fans of the Italian auteur.
Today, January 20th, 2020, marks 100 years since the birth of Italian cinema giant Federico Fellini. To mark his centenary, six of Fellini's films have been newly restored for UK blu-ray releases.
First up on February 10th, CultFilms will release the four film boxset 'Fellini: Four Films', containing 8 ½, La Dolce Vita, Juliet of the Spirits and I Vitelloni. 8 ½ will also be given a standalone release on February 3rd.
Special features include:
8 ½: New interview with actor, and Fellini’s off-screen companion, Sandra Milo; new interview with Lina Wertmuller, Fellini’s assistant director on 8 ½; ‘Lost Sequence’ documentary on the making of 8 ½ featuring interviews Fellini and cast and crew.
La Dolce Vita: Interview with star Anita Ekberg.
Juliet of the Spirits: Audio commentary by film historian Kat Ellinger; video essay by Italian cinema expert Prof. Guido Bonsaver.
I Vitelloni: video essay by Italian cinema expert Prof. Guido Bonsaver.
Then in Spring, 2020, Studiocanal will release new restorations of The White Sheik and Nights of Cabiria. Both films are currently screening as part of the BFI’s two-month season at BFI Southbank.
