The premise of The Most Dangerous Game - humans hunting humans - has been appropriated by dozens of movies over the year, but none have proved as controversial as director Craig Zobel's The Hunt.

Originally scheduled to open in cinemas last year, the release of the Blumhouse thriller was pulled when some morons in the US decided the film was some sort of Jewish communist propaganda or some such nonsense, leading distributor Universal to fear for the safety of cinemagoers.

The far from original plot revolves around the usual setup of a group of rich elites hunting human prey, with one of the hunted turning the tables on them. Ike Barinholtz, Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts and Hilary Swank star.

A new release has been announced for the film, with the above poster exploiting the headlines it previously received. You can check out a new trailer below.

The Hunt is in US cinemas March 13th, with a UK/ROI release yet to be announced.

The official synopsis reads:

Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don't know they’ve been chosen… for a very specific purpose … The Hunt.

In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt ordinary Americans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of The Hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin, GLOW), knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (two-time Oscar® winner Hilary Swank) at the center of it all.
