Based on the best-selling memoirs of political prisoner Mohamedou Ould Slahi, director Kevin Macdonald's The Mauritanian stars Tahar Rahim as Mohamedou, who spent 14 years detained at Guantanamo Bay despite never being charged with a crime. Jodie Foster and Shailene Woodley play the defence team who fought for his release, with Benedict Cumberbatch as military prosecutor, Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch.
The Mauritanian is in UK/ROI cinemas from February 26th, 2021.

The official synopsis reads:
