First Trailer for Irish Oscar Entry FOSCADH

First look at Ireland's selection for the 2022 Oscars.

Written and directed by Seán Breathnach, Irish language drama Foscadh stars Dónall Ó Héalai as a reclusive, molly-coddled 28-year-old man who inherits his family's land in the West of Ireland when his parents pass away. With the land in the way of a proposed wind farm, he finds himself in a conflict with developers.

Foscadh has been selected as Ireland's submission to the Oscars' Best International Feature Film category.

Fionnuala Flaherty and Cillian O’Gairbhí also star in the film, which based on characters from Donal Ryan’s novel 'The Thing About December'.

A release date has yet to be announced for Foscadh but you can check out the trailer below.




The official synopsis reads:

Foscadh (Shelter), is a poignant meditation on isolation, neurodiversity, and letting go of the past, set in the wild mountains of Connemara. Based on characters in Donal Ryan’s novel The Thing About December, Foscadh (Shelter) tells the story of naïve recluse John Cunliffe who is suddenly propelled into manhood at the ripe old age of 28. When his overprotective parents pass away, friendless John inherits mountain land that is in the way of a lucrative wind-farm development, and he is forced to navigate the choppy waters of romance, trust and vengeance for the first time.
