Shot in 1968, writer/director Jean-Denis Bonan's A Woman Kills failed to find
distribution for 45 years before it was restored by Luna Park Films. The
thriller now makes its worldwide bluray debut courtesy of Radiance
Films.
A New Wave influenced thriller with a jazzy score, the film stars
Solange Pradel as a police officer investigating a series of
murders of sex workers while embarking on a relationship with the
executioner (Claude Merlin) of a woman wrongly accused of the
crimes.
A Woman Kills is on UK bluray from February 6th and US
bluray from February 7th.
Special features include a commentary by critics Kat Ellinger and Virginie Sélavy with an
introduction by the latter; a new 37-minute documentary on Bonan; five
shorts by Bonan; trailer; and a limited edition booklet featuring new writing on the film by author and
scholar Catherine Wheatley, writer and broadcaster Richard Thomas on the
short films, writing on gender identity tropes in A Woman Kills and the
horror film, an interview with Francis Lecomte, the French distributor who
rescued the film, newly translated archival reviews and film
credits.
