It can be difficult to determine what constitutes a "hit" for a streaming
service, but if a sequel is greenlit it's a pretty good indicator that a
movie performed well. One of Netflix's biggest hits to date is the 2018
sci-fi thriller
Bird Box, which became the streamer's most watched movie on release. That movie starred Sandra Bullock as a survivor in a post-apocalyptic world
taken over by creatures with the power to kill anyone who simply looks at
them.
Written and directed by Alex and David Pastor,
Bird Box Barcelona gives us a Spanish perspective on the
apocalypse with a group of survivors attempting to find safety in the
titular metropolis.
The film stars Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Diego Calva, Alejandra Howard, Naila
Schuberth, Patrick Criado, Celia Freijeiro with Lola DueƱas, Gonzalo de
Castro, Michelle Jenner
and Leonardo Sbaraglia.
Bird Box Barcelona is on Netflix from July 14th.
