Former Team GB Olympian Savanah Leaf makes her feature directorial
debut with Earth Mama, which she also wrote. Expanding themes explored in Leaf's acclaimed
documentary short The Heart Still Hums, Earth Mama stars Tia Nomore as Gia, a pregnant young
woman with two kids in foster care, and follows her attempts to be reunited
with her children.
The film also stars Erika Alexander, Doechii, Keta Price, Sharon Duncan Brewster, Dominic
Fike
and Bokeem Woodbine.
Earth Mama is in UK cinemas from December 8th.

The official synopsis reads:
Savanah Leaf’s critically acclaimed, intimate and moving feature debut EARTH MAMA follows Gia (Tia Nomore), a pregnant single mother, with two children in foster care who embraces her Bay Area community as she fights to reclaim her family. A delicate yet raw portrayal, EARTH MAMA explores the experience of black single mothers fighting the foster care system and a society that expects them to fail and strips them of their agency.
