THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS MOVIE to Make its Bluray Debut [Trailer/Artwork]

The '80s cult oddity comes to bluray in May.

Based on the trading cards which notoriously spoofed the 1980s Cabbage Patch Kids phenomenon, 1987's The Garbage Pail Kids Movie sees the titular trash dwelling aliens land on Earth where they befriend a bullied young boy, leading to all manner of grossout hijinks.

Directed by Rod Amateau and co-written with Melinda Palmer, the film stars Mackenzie Astin, Anthony Newley, Katie Barberi, Phil Fondacaro, Debbie Lee Carrington, Kevin Thompson, Larry Green, Susan Rossitto and Arturo Gil.

The Garbage Pail Kids Movie will make its bluray debut on May 6th when it will also be available on DVD and as a 3-disc collector's edition mediabook featuring the documentary 30 Years of Garbage: The Garbage Pail Kids Story.

The official synopsis reads:

Meet the Garbage Pail Kids: Nat Nerd, Messy Tessie, Greaser Greg, Windy Winston, Foul Phil, Valerie Vomit and Ali Gator! They look as strange as their names and have come all the way from outer space to land their garbage can rocket straight into Captain Manzini's antique shop. There they befriend the orphan boy Dodger, who helps out in the store and could really use the support of the seven trash can children. But his new friends show him that true beauty comes from within and that the journey of growing up can sometimes be pretty disgusting.
