Luck

Deadwood creator David Milch was the brains behind this show that ran briefly from 2011-2012. With a pilot episode directed by Heat's Michael Mann, the series starred Dustin Hoffman s convict who is released from prison and sets about taking revenge on those responsible for his imprisonment. Set against the backdrop of horse racing, the show was cancelled when it was sadly revealed that three horses had died during its production.

Tilt

Tilt was a 2005 show set against the backdrop of a fictional World Championship oker tournament being held in Las Vegas. The type of poker played in the show is Texas Hold'em, which was popular in the 2000s thanks to ESPN airing the real life Poker World Championship. The show tells the story over nine episodes of a group of poker players who combine to beat ace gambler Don "The Matador" Everest (Michael Madsen), who doesn't play by the rules. The show was created by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who co-wrote the poker-themed thriller Rounders.

Stan Lee's Lucky Man

This British series boasted no less a figure than Marvel head honcho Stan Lee as co-creator along with Neil Biswas. The show stars James Nesbitt as Harry Clayton, a homicide detective who is given the superpower of being able to control luck. Having previously struggled with gambling, Clayton uses his new powers to strike it lucky, but he discovers there's a dark side to his gift.The show broke viewing records when it was broadcast in the UK in 2017.
