Written and directed by Jayro Bustamente (La Llorona), Rita is a magic realist fable set in a Guatemalan
orphanage and inspired by real events. When 13-year-old Rita is sent to an
orphanage, the other girls believe she is an angel that has been sent to
release them from their suffering. Working with Rita, the girls plan to make
their escape and expose the cruelties of the orphanage.
The film stars Giuliana Santa Cruz, Alejandra Vasquez, Ángela Quevedo, Isabel Aldana,
Sabrina De La Hoz, Margarita Kénefic
and Maria Telón.
Rita is on Shudder from November 22nd.

The official synopsis reads:
While fleeing a neglectful household, thirteen-year-old Rita is placed in an oppressive state-run orphanage.
